Historical Museum of Svyatogorsk

In Svyatogorsk, you can visit the Historical Museum, in which several exhibition halls. The halls of the museum are located in building 6 in the territory of the Holy Dormition Lavra. Here you can get acquainted with the history of the monastery. The museum has more than 14 thousand items, but unfortunately only a small part of them is exhibited.

In the first hall you can learn about the history of the settlement, life, burials of the first settlers. How people lived in the II-III millennium BC in these territories. On the life of the Scythians and Sarmatians their life, dishes, weapons.

In the second hall, the exhibits will tell about people who lived in Svyatogorye in the VIII – XIV centuries. Here are the decorations, money, dishes and more. You will be able to see the unique icon of the XVI century “Saint Nicholas and the seven sleeping youths of Ephesus”, which you were lucky to find in the village of Mayaki located 15 kilometers from the Holy Mountains.
